Our Northern India tour is an amazing combination of natural abundance…
…and of course spectacular birds.
The Indians celebrate their natural heritage (sm)…
…as well as their cultural wonders…
here the Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of the world (sm)…
We stay in comfortable places…
…many of them full of charm…
…and often with excellent birding right in the gardens.
Our transport is normally familiar and comfortable…
…with spacious buses…
…and open-topped trucks and jeeps in some national parks…
…and small boats on occasion.
The scenery is wonderful and varied; here sunrise at Corbett National Park…
…and midday in the mountains,
…and beautiful sunsets (sm).
In the wetlands we encounter a wealth of birdlife…
…including an abundance of waterfowl. Here, a Bar-headed Goose (sm)…
…and other waterbirds, such as this Black-necked Stork (sm).
Great Thick-knees are often encountered (sm)…
…as well as colorful gems like this White-throated Kingfisher (sm).
In the grasslands (sm)…
birds range from curious Yellow-eyed Babblers (sm)…
…to demure, but still wonderful, Black Francolins (sm)…
And in the woodlands (sm)…
we may encounter Spotted Owlets (sm)…
…and Indian Robins, common but still enchanting (sm)…
…as are Grey-capped Woodpeckers (sm).
Along the streamsides we may find the wonderful White-capped Water-Redstart (sm)…
…while elegant Indian Skimmers frequent the bigger rivers.
There are plenty of mammals too; Spotted Deer (sm)…
…and of course we hope for Tiger!

and often the kids are excited to see us! (sm)
There is much color (sm)…
and diversity (sm)…
and quirky sights (sm)…
as well as beauty (sm).
And like all trips, one hopes to return home with at least a few lasting images (sm)…
…and many lasting memories!
