Tales from the Silk Road

Leaving Uzbekistan behind we kicked off our time in Kazakhstan with 2 nights camping in the Taukum Desert. Here we caught up with many Pallas's Sandgrouse and a pair of Caspian Plovers close to the camp. Further afield at the Ili River Delta we found the rare Yellow-Eyed Stock Dove, Saxaul Sparrow, White-winged Woodpecker and plenty of migrant Golden Orioles.
