Our 2026 Sabah, Borneo tour showcased the extraordinary diversity of Borneo’s rainforests, from the montane forests of the Crocker Range and Mount Kinabalu to the rich lowland forests of Sepilok, the Kinabatangan River, Tabin, and Danum Valley. Early mornings at forest hides produced an impressive array of Bornean endemics, including Bornean Green Magpie, Bornean Banded-Pitta, Chestnut-crested Yuhina, and Eyebrowed Jungle-Flycatcher, as well as more widespread beauties such as White-browed Shrike-babbler.
Kinabalu Park delivered memorable encounters with Whitehead’s Trogon, Bornean Stubtail, and mixed feeding flocks that often hold Indigo Flycatcher and Temminck's Sunbird, while Poring Hot Springs added Red-bearded Bee-eater and a flowering Rafflesia to the highlights.
In Sepilok, the group enjoyed canopy birdwatching at the Rainforest Discovery Centre before heading to the Kinabatangan River, where river cruises and cave visits revealed hornbills, kingfishers, Storm’s Stork, and a young Bornean Orangutan.
The Tabin Wildlife Reserve offered remarkable sightings of mammals like the Leopard Cat, Malayan Colugo, and Moon Rat, as well as highly prized birds such as the White-crowned Hornbill and White-bellied Woodpecker.
The tour concluded in Danum Valley, where Great Argus, Black-and-yellow Broadbill, Whiskered Treeswift, and numerous rainforest specialties rounded off an outstanding journey.
A farewell dinner in Kota Kinabalu celebrated a successful trip shared with a wonderful group, expert local guides, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
