Snow Leopard will be the focus of our efforts…

…here a herd of Blue Sheep, preferred dining for Snow Leopard… (df)

We certainly won’t neglect the bird with Bearded Vulture (or Lammergeier) being common… (df)

Other mammals are sure to include Himalayan Marmot…

…the cute miniature Glover’s Pika…

…and myriad feral Yaks…

…or perhaps even a Tibetan Wolf. (df)

The scenery is stunning as here at ‘Stone Buddha Gorge’…

…and here where we saw Snow Leopard on our last visit.

We’re at high altitude much of the time - here on route to Zhaduo our highest elevation in ‘Snow Leopard Country’…

…and won’t be doing any running like this acclimatized Himalayan Vulture.

We’ll have a few internal flights including ones to and from Yushu airport…

…but will leave most of the flying for the birds - here Hill Pigeons near Zhaduo.

Bird density is low at high elevation but will include Hodgson’s Redstart…

…Ibisbill, regular near Yushu airport… (df)

…Rufous-necked Snowfinch… (df)

and Saker Falcon.

We’re sure to enjoy hugely varied scenery in the Snow Leopard area…

…here contrasting with arid grasslands near Chaka…

…but even in early autumn it can be desolate…

…or more wildlife such as this Tibetan Fox… (df)

…or Tibetan Partridge. (df)

We’ll never be short of things to see - here a wall mural in Stone Buddha Gorge…

…a White Eared Pheasant…

…or a White-lipped Deer…

…a Kiang… (df)

…or a monastic village as here at Zhugua Si.

White-browed Tits aren’t always easy… (df)

…but those and White-browed Tit-warblers, here a male, are well worth the effort. (df)

Nor are Chinese Grey Shrikes – here on the giganteus form…

…and here a Tibetan Snowcock.

On the extension we’ll travel by train to Lhasa…

…where we hope to explore the magnificent Potala…

…while also searching for that area’s avian specialities, including Giant Babax…

…and Tibetan Eared Pheasant.

But once again Snow Leopard will be the undoubted focus of our efforts.
