Koji Tagi has been birding for over 40 years, his interest first sparked by the beautiful ducks at a local park his father took him to as a child. Later, as a university student, he visited remote islands in the Sea of Japan, tidal flats in Honshu, and Hokkaido in summer and winter, and became passionate about birdwatching. While studying in Australia, he discovered the joy of birding abroad and has since explored 25 countries and observed about 2,500 species of birds. These days he enjoys watching birds in the natural scenery that is typical of Japan and will co-lead our Japan tours beginning in 2025.
