Memories from Mexico: San Blas

The first morning started with a bang, or rather a deafening chorus of hybrid Rufous-bellied x West Mexican Chachalacas.

With its lovely bunch of coconuts, this nesting Bare-throated Tiger Heron was a another favorite.

The refreshing mountain air of the pine-oak forests on Cerro de San Juan offered a nice change from the lowlands, along with a suite of different bird species.

But all too soon it was time to head back north—although I for one am already looking forward to heading back to sunny San Blas and its amazing birdlife!
