Highlights from Ghana

Ghana never disappoints, and this year was no exception! From Upper Guinean rainforest to open savanna and coastal lagoons, we experienced an incredible range of habitats and everything Ghana has to offer. We enjoyed exceptional views of all the major targets that make this tour famous, including Congo Serpent-Eagle, Nkulengu Rail, Egyptian Plover, and White-necked Rockfowl. We also encountered an incredible diversity of nearly 20 greenbuls, 17 sunbirds, and 11 hornbills, along with Frasier’s and Akun Eagle-Owls, the gorgeous Black Bee-eater, and a selection of rare and elusive species such as Yellow-footed Honeyguide, Barka Indigobird, and Tessmann’s Flycatcher.

Despite this being our 13th tour to Ghana, we still managed to add eight species to the cumulative tour total, including Spotted Honeyguide, a surprise White-backed Night-Heron, and excellent views of the elusive Gray-throated Rail. It’s no wonder this tour remains a fan favorite!
