An Update from Taiwan

One week into the tour and we’re having a great time on Isla Formosa (the Beautiful Island). Fabulous weather, nice accommodations, good food, great company and some truly spectacular birds. The highlights so far have included a pair of Mikado Pheasants, Taiwan Bush Warblers and White-whiskered Laughingthrushes that we could have almost touched, a couple of showy Chestnut-bellied Tits and a foraging party of three Taiwan Partridges. We’ve just crossed the Tropic of Cancer and with just three of Taiwan’s 33 endemics still to see - the Taiwan Green Pigeon that we hope to see on Lanyu (Orchid Island) tomorrow, plus Taiwan Shortwing and the ever-elusive Taiwan Thrush. It’ll soon be time to focus on this magical island's myriad migrant shorebirds…
