No aspect of wildlife watching has been changed more by the advent of digital technology than photography. Nowadays, more and more people travel not only to see wildlife but also to capture images of what they observe, images they can share with their friends—and with the rest of the world on the internet.
Many of the participants on our traditional birding tours also take photos, of course, but a bird tour may not always be ideally suited to the ardent photographer in search of the definitive shot. A classic WINGS bird tour tends to keep on the move, covering as many habitats and seeking as many birds as possible; but as any serious photographer knows, to get the best shot you need time and patience to wait for that perfect photo opportunity to come along.
Sunbird and WINGS are proud to announce a new series of exclusive photographic tours with award-winning wildlife photograher David Tipling. These are not birdwatching tours; instead, David has designed them specifically with the needs of photographers in mind, putting participants in the best position and giving them all the time they need for the perfect shot. David’s advice and instruction along the way makes these tours ideal for both beginners and more advanced photographers.
David Tipling is a seasoned tour leader with extensive experience photographing East Africa and its wildlife. Throughout our tours, David shares his ideas on shooting subjects in varied ways, passing on tips and techniques developed over eighteen years as a professional photographer. You can see samples of David’s work at his website.
Our initial tour in this exciting new series visits Kenya for the Great Migration of the Masai Mara.
