General Tour Information
Note: The information presented here is an abbreviated version of our formal General Information for Tours to the Bahamas: Andros and Abaco Islands. Its purpose is solely to give readers a sense of what might be involved if they took this tour. Although we do our best to make sure what follows here is completely accurate, it should not be used as a replacement for the formal document which will be sent to all tour registrants, and whose contents supersedes any information contained here.
ENTERING THE BAHAMAS: Visas are not required for U.S. citizens for stays up to eight months. However, U.S. citizens should carry a valid U.S. passport. Citizens of other countries may need a visa and should check their nearest Bahamian embassy. If required by the embassy or visa-granting entity, WINGS can provide a letter for you to use regarding your participation in the tour.
HEALTH: It is a good idea generally for all travelers to have current tetanus inoculations. No other inoculations are recommended. Specialized medications may be difficult to obtain locally and we advise bringing all you will need with you.
CLIMATE: The days are generally quite warm and summer clothes are suitable year-round, with the addition of a jacket or sweater.
PACE OF THE TOUR: This will be a relaxed tour with low driving distances and flat terrain.
ACCOMMODATION: We stay at an unpretentious but extremely comfortable beach front lodge on Andros and on Abaco our lodging is in a modest resort. Both islands offer a variety of delicious food . Most guests come for the world-class diving that can be found just offshore, along with snorkeling at Andros Island which is part of our tour for those who wish to explore the waters.
ELECTRICITY: The electrical current is the same as in the US, no converters required.
DRESS: Informal.
TRANSPORT: We will be traveling by 15-passenger van or mini-bus. Participants should be able to ride in any seat in tour vehicles.
SMOKING: Smoking is prohibited in the vehicles or when the group is gathered for meals, checklists, etc. If you are sharing a room with a non-smoker, please do not smoke in the room. If you smoke in the field, we ask that you do so well away and downwind from the group.
GENERAL INFORMATION & CONDITIONS OF WINGS TOURS: Please take a moment to read the General Information & Conditions. This section contains important information about how we conduct tours, e.g., what is included in the tour price, refund and cancellation policies, pace of the tours and other information that will help you prepare for the tour.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A more complete General Information for Andros Island, Bahamas, will be sent to registrants on receipt of their booking. Final information with instructions for meeting the group, hotel addresses, etc., will be mailed about three weeks before trip departure. Other news will be communicated as necessary. If you have any questions, please contact us.
