Ian Lewington is a freelance bird illustrator who lives with his wife, Debbie, in Oxfordshire. His illustrations have appeared in many books, notably The Rare Birds of Britain and Europe, The Handbook of Birds of the World, and Birds of the Western Palearctic. Ian is a member of the British Ornithologists’ Union Records Committee, an identification consultant to Birding World, and a Museum consultant to British Birds. He has been County Bird Recorder for Oxfordshire since 1994. Ian has travelled widely throughout Europe, and to Israel, India, North and South America, and China.

Ian and Richard are brothers.
