Near the coast we should see Stone Curlew, despite their camouflage…

…but other species are more conspicuous.

Lesser Kestrels are found in small flocks as we head inland…

…and careful checking of any migrant Wheatear could produce the endemic race seebohmi.

Driving to the edge of the Sahara is stunning…

…if not a little messy, in this case a veneer of locusts…

…and the occasional sandstorm…

…is worth it in the end, especially when we come across a seasonal lake in the desert.

Heading to the hills we soon come across Desert Larks…

…and at Tagdilt we’ll look for the awsome Thick-billed Lark.

Driving higher still we’ll come across Alpine Choughs (they may be sitting on our hotel roof)…

…but that’s not something Crimson-winged Finch would do; we’ll have to track those down near the snow line.

As a final contrast, we can sip cold drinks and watch Little and Pallid Swifts while the spectacle of Djemaa el-Fna Square unfolds below.
