  3. Helen Howard

    Kildeer

  4. Laura

    I think it’s the Dunlin.

  5. Corey

Spotted Sandpiper…though I’ll be very surprised if I am correct.

  6. Lisa Williams

I’m going with the Least for the most. Least Sandpiper that is.

  7. Robert Mortensen

Least Sandpiper – just because it is a least, does not mean it is least.

  8. Barry Rossheim

The “Spotless” Sandpiper would include the spotted sandpiper in its winter plumage, and all sandpipers without spots…including the ‘rare’ common sandpiper. What do I win?

  9. Keith Condon

    Well,

The original question was what is the “commonest” sandpiper. If a common sandpiper were present in North America, then by name it would be by default be the “common”est. Most abundant is another story. We must then look at what species has the greatest number of individuals present at any one time which could change based on the time of year. I’ll vote for the least. That’s Least sandpiper, not least common.

You failed to indicate the Genus. I’ll wing it and go for Sanderling.
